Book at least 5–7 days in advance. Hamptons ramp fees can add $2,000–$4,000 at peak.

Labor Day Weekend

Last major summer weekend. Return leg (Sep 1) typically has higher surcharges than outbound (Aug 29).

Thanksgiving Week

Busiest routes: NY → Miami, NY → Aspen, NY → Palm Beach, LA → SF, Chicago → everywhere. Nov 25 (Wed) and Nov 30 (Sun) are the single highest-demand days of the week.
The highest-demand week in private aviation. NetJets blackout days frequently cluster here. Book 3–4 weeks ahead minimum. Some programs will not guarantee availability.

Art Basel Miami
Dec 4–8, 2026

Busiest routes: NY → Miami (OPF/FLL/MIA), LA → Miami, London → Miami (international demand). Opa-locka Executive sees extreme compression.
UHNW concentration is highest of any single week outside Thanksgiving/Christmas. Ground handling fees at OPF can double during Art Basel.
Christmas Week
Dec 20–27, 2026

Busiest routes: NY → Aspen (ASE), NY → Palm Beach, NY → St. Barths (SBH), LA → Hawaii. Dec 23 is consistently the single most expensive private aviation day of the year.
December 23rd is the peak of the peak. Book 4–6 weeks ahead. Aspen has altitude and weight restrictions that further compress availability on this route.

New Year's Eve

Busiest routes: All major markets to Miami, Aspen, Las Vegas, and Caribbean destinations. The highest single-night surcharge of any date.
Some programs charge 50% above baseline on Dec 31. This is the date where the difference between surcharge and no-surcharge programs is most financially significant.

New Year's Day / Return
Jan 1–4, 2027

Busiest routes: Return legs from all NYE destinations. Miami → NY, Aspen → NY/LA, Caribbean → mainland are heaviest.
Jan 2 and 3 see heavy return traffic as holiday travellers head back. Plan return timing carefully — Jan 4 is typically significantly cheaper.

2027 — Key dates to plan ahead
Super Bowl LXI

Busiest routes: All major markets to host city. Airport compression at host city FBOs is extreme in the 5 days surrounding the game.
Monitor the host city announcement. Once confirmed, nearby FBO slots will be booked within days. Consider alternative airports up to 60 miles from the venue.
Kentucky Derby
May 1, 2027 · Louisville, KY

Busiest routes: NY, Chicago, LA, Dallas → Louisville Executive (KJVY) and Bowman Field (KLOU). Derby weekend compresses the Louisville market significantly.
Louisville Executive fills extremely fast. Bowman Field is a viable alternative. Book 3–4 weeks ahead for guaranteed slot.
Memorial Day Weekend
May 27–30, 2027

Busiest routes: Northeast → Hamptons, Nantucket, Cape Cod. Midwest → Lake Michigan resort areas. Traditional summer season opener.
First major summer peak. Many fractional owners activate for the summer season around this date — demand spikes earlier than previous years.

If you fly privately every Thanksgiving, consider programs with no peak surcharges. At $10,000/hr all-in and a 35% surcharge, a 4-hour roundtrip adds $14,000 in avoidable cost.
